Biography

  • Poète arabe souvent surnommé "l'homme qui se donne pour prophète".- Originaire d'une famille humble.- Panégyriste à gages, il eut de nombreux mécènes et employeurs de différentes classes dans différents endroits.- Par son enfance et ses premiers maîtres, il a subit des influences šīʿites et qarmatistes qui influencèrent sa poésie et sa philosophie.- Il en développe des idées politiques et organise une insurrection de 928 à 933 depuis al-Lāḏikkiyya.- Son insurrection est arrêté en 933 et il fait un séjour de deux ans en prison à Ḥimṣ.- Il eut 4 différentes périodes littéraire, d'abord plus classique, il développe ensuite un style propre qui a influencé tous les panégyristes arabes qui lui succédèrent.- Il meurt sur la route de Bagdad en 965, attaqué des Bédouins

Biography

  • Arabic poet often referred to as "he who professes to be a prophet".- He came from a humble family.- Paid panegyrist, he worked for different people of various classes in many places.- During his childhood and through his teachers, he get some Šīʿia and Qarmatians influences, which recures in his poetry and philosophy.- He developped political ideas and organized a riot from 928 to 933 from al-Lāḏikkiyya.- His riot was stopped in 933 and he was jailed for two years in Ḥimṣ.- He had 4 different litterary period, at the beggining more classical, he developed then a proper style that influenced all the following arab panegyrists.- He died on his way to Baghdad in 965, attacked by some Bedouins
