  • Poète et prosateur de l'époque ʿabbāside.- Il appartient à une famille notable de ʿulamāʾ šāfiʿites, les Banū Sulaymān.- Il perd la vue à 4 ans suite à la variole.- Il existe une dispute d'historiens pour déterminer s'il aurait subit ou non des influences religieuses autre que l'islam durant sa jeunesse.- Très marqué par la mort de sa mère en 400/1010, il s'isole dans sa maison, mais reçoit des visites de personnalités éminentes.- Malgré sa vie ascétique, il aurait été critiqué pour son manque d'orthodoxie religieuse.- Auteur prolifique, ses oeuvres traitent de différents sujets comme la religion, les problèmes politiques de son époque, l'éloge de personnalités, la langue arabe

  • Poet and prose author of the late ʿAbbāsid period.- He belonged to a notable family, the Banū Sulaymān.- He lost his eyesight at the age of 4 after having been affected by smallpox.- There is an historian issue to determine wether or not he had non-Islamic religious influences in his youth.- Deeply moved by his mother's death in 400/1010, he isolated himself in his house, but he keep receiving visits from outstanding personalities.- Despite his ascetic life, he was criticized for his lack of religious orthodoxy.- He was a prolific author, his works broached various topics as religion, political issues of his time, panegyrics, Arabic language
